If you are considering a Natural Burial for a family member, friend, or even yourself, we are here to guide you through the process; offering advice and suggestions on how you want the funeral service and burial to be conducted.
Belsay Woodland Burial is open to everyone, regardless of faith, culture or personal belief. You can choose exactly how you want to organise things; whether you want to hold a ceremony beforehand, either in a church or other place of worship, or have one at the graveside. Likewise, ceremonies can be based on either traditional faith or non-religious, humanist principles. Some people choose to have no ceremony at all, just a simple interment which can be followed by a later Memorial gathering or a wake elsewhere. We have a small function room available next to The Blacksmiths Coffee Shop which is available for gatherings.
There are no fixed rules or format to follow at Belsay Woodland Burials. A Natural Burial is all about doing whatever is right for you and whatever satisfies the wishes of your deceased loved one. Returning the body to earth, naturally, can be a deeply spiritual and uplifting process and a cathartic step in the grieving process.
